WinXP Boot Disk

If I format a floppy in WinXP and select "Create an MS-DOS startup disk", I
obviously get a WinXP startup disk. Does anyone know how to make this start
up disk recognize a CD-ROM? (Basically, how do I added CD-ROM drivers to
this disk or enable CD-ROM support?)

Download the MS-DOS device drivers for the CDROM drive from its
manufacturer's website, and then follow the manufacturer's instructions
for adding the appropriate lines to the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys
files on the diskette.

I may be obvious to you, but you do not get a Win XP startup disk.
You get a MS-DOS disk that will boot to an A: prompt.
You will not be able to access your hard drive if it is formatted NTFS.

A boot disk/diskette boots the operating system, that's it. "startup"
disk/diskette is a MS coined term. Means one thing in 98/98SE/ME, and
something else in XP using the selection you noted.
XP does not ride on msdos like the other 3 OSes mentioned. Therefore, it
cannot be an XP startup or boot disk/diskette.

There are some very literal people on this newsgroup. Surly the term boot
disc refers to the fact that you can boot from the disc. It isn't the same
as starting XP via the disc it just means you get to an A: prompt. Even the
term startup disc is taken to mean a floppy that goes to an A: prompt not a
disc that boot XP.
