WinXP Add a Printer Wizard won't start.

I have two Windows XP computers. Ever since I loaded The
Hewlett Packard Install Network Printer Wizard, the
Windows Add a Printer Wizard will not start.

I've tried a number of different things. Going into the
Windows Knowledge Base and found about renaming .dll
files in the Root Directory. That didn't work, and that
was for Windows 2000 Server anyway. I've also gone and
started the printer spooler. Any suggestions? I've been
stumped by this for a while.

Sounds like the HP software stepped on something it shouldn't have.
Unfortunately, XP can't prevent other software packages from replacing other
XP files or quarantine things will work as expected. Have you tried removing
the HP Install Network Printer software first? I'd recommend you remove this
totally from your computer and then see if the XP Add Printer Wizard works.
If it does - then we know the HP software is your problem, not XP. If it
doesn't, still the HP software may not be fully uninstalled or "repaired"
what it changed while being removed from your computer. Since you've already
said it worked fine until you installed the HP software - they are still
your culprit.

You'll need to contact HP.

good luck!
