I have following system :

Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz
Intel 945 MB
1256 KB RAM (512+512+256)
80 GB HDD
Windows XP Prof + SP2
LAN Card 10/100 - 3 Nos.
External Modem
USB Printers are attatched

I have Broad Band Connection through Cisco Firewall Router.

This PC is used for giving accessebility to client for there accounts
releated files.
Bullet Proof FRP Server is used to give FTP connectivity to clients thorugh
Internet, through Telephone Line using Incoming COnnection and through Local
LAN also.

I have Quick Heal Antivirus installed which is checking PC on-line.
I have Ad-Aware SE Personal installed and checks regulary.

I am also using Open Office for office application and some accounting
packages which uses Visual Basic & Microsoft .net framwork.

REMOTE ADMINISTRATOR is also installed on this PC to get access remotely via
local Lan and is password protected.

I have to keep this PC ON 24 hours. Normally I restart this PC in morning
daily.

Now problem is that This PC Hangs sometimes. This happnes mostly in night
when there is almost no working on PC. In this hang situation, if I try to
open any program, it does not give any responce, whereas if I ping PC IP from
another PC in local lan it gives the reply. I can connect Remote
Administrator software and get access to this PC remotely even in this Hang
Situation. But this will also not allow me to do any work.

I tried to ctrl+alt+del, but this alos does not work. I tried to keep this
PC as it is for 6 hours in the view that if any application is workign in
background and is causing this situation, will be closed in this time period,
but nothing helps.

I have to restart the PC using reset switch only.

Can any one help me to overcome this situation ?

Thanks for giving your time.
I tried to check the event viewer, but could not understand any thing. Can
you help me in this regards. I am mailing you snap shot of EVENT VIEWER on
your mail ID - (e-mail address removed) <[email protected]>.

Pl. giev your some of time to help me out of this problem.

Thanks

Rajesh, the same thing happened to me some time ago, but there were no
errors logged by the Event Viewer. At first it would hang every eight hours
or so, then more frequently. I suspected a hardware problem rather than a
software glitch. I did two things: I reduced the speed at which my processor
was running by adjusting the speed setting in BIOS (its an ASUS motherboard)
from its maximum value to the next step down, and I installed an additional
fan to increase cooling though the case. I'm not sure which one worked, but
the hanging stopped and I have not noticed any degradation in performance.

Aecibo.

Thanks Arecibo !!

I checked my BIOS but could not found any option by which I can reduce my
CPU speed. Also I have already installed 2 extra fan in cabinate one on back
side and anotehr in froont side.

I checked the temperature of CPU from BIOS, and it's showing aroound 62 C
and cabinate temperature somewhat around 40 C.

This much high temeprate is correct or is ther any problem ?
