Remote Desktop connection via Internet

Jim

I have no problems using Remote Desktop to access my home 3 PC's running on
a LAN.
My understanding is that this task can also be accomplished via the
Internet. I have tried to do a Remote Desktop from my son's home but I can't
seem to connect to my home pc's - says it can't find the computer.

1. Both host & client pc's are running XP Pro

2. On my router, port 3389 is forwarded to the local IP address of my home
pc

3. Have my ISP static IP address

4. Remote Desktop an exception in Windows Firewall

Greatly appreciate any suggestions

If you're paying for a static IP just for this - the extra cost isn't
necessary.

Get a free DYNDNS account and client, run the client on the target system,
and use the URL you registered at DYNDNS.

then you need just to connect to your static IP address and if ports are
open and firewall disabled it will work.
