Mark,
Saw someone else respond to your issue...unfortunately, I was in the same
bind you were. Even though the previous person provided links, if you were
like me, it does no good as you cannot launch the browser. I was on XP
running IE6.0 and receiving the following:

iexplore.exe Appver:6.0.2800.1106 Modname: winshow.dll Modver:
1.0.0.1 Offset: 00009901

Ended up loading free SpyWare software and the problem was removed. Previous
person who advised me noted the following:
I fixed mine by purchasing the "Spy Sweeper" program made by Webroot
Software. I ran a spyware scan on my entire system and it found 48 different
spyware programs or cookies and removed them all. THEN IE 6 worked perfectly
fine!

A friend recommended to me the free version of Ad-Aware by Lavasoft and
addressed 25 objects on my PC. No longer have the issue anymore. Best of
luck to you!
