WinPE

Hi Guys,

I am using a motherboard that winPE on XPE SP2 does not have the
drivers for. Is there an explaination on how to create a new winPE
from the one provided in XPE disk one? I figured all I needed to do
is add the drivers and inf file to the appropriate folders in i386,
but I wonder, just burning this folder onto a CD doesnt create a
bootable cd, right. I thought this was ok from reading the MSDN
articles but I dont see any instructions anywhere. Any clues?

Thanks,

Santiago

Hi Santiago,

I have been successful using a program called "UltraISO" to edit the
files inside the ISO to add network drivers and then use the same
program to burn the ISO to a blank CD.

There are a number of ISO editors available, any of them should work
to edit the disk.
Also, you might look at "Startnet.cmd", I think it is in the System32
folder, which is the WinPE equivalent of Autoexec.bat

I have seen more complicated ways to go about this, like editing .INI
files, but simply adding the drivers has worked well for me...
