Xpe WinPE bootup CD RAID drivers

Hello

I'm using a WinPE to bootup and install my XPe SDI image.

The PC I'm using has a onboard Intel RAID controller, and now I've learned
that Intel is going to discounting that particular Onboard raid controller
and I've got a Adaptec as a replacement.

My question is, can I add the Adaptec driver to the folder on the WinPE CD
that contains the Intel driver, and expect the WinPE CD to use the correct
one?

Thanks
Jason

To make your own WinPE CD you need the OPK (oem pre-installation kit) for
WindowsXP/Win2k3. To obtain the OPK, you will probably need to enroll in the
Microsoft Partner Program (http://www.microsoft.com/oem/enroll.mspx).

To learn how to develop your own WinPE:
- Please visit
http://oem.microsoft.com/script/contentpage.aspx?pageid=554740
- or http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303891 to learn how to create one.
- Here's a detailed Word doc on the subject:
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...6B-9281-92CDFEAE4B45/OPK-preinstall-intro.doc

Take care.

Ok

I've already got WinPE disk that I've created, my real question, is that
I've got a RAID controller and on a typical XP install CD you need to press
F6 to specify additional devices.

In the WINPEOEM.SIF file, on the WinPE cd, the part....
[OemDriverParams]
OemDriverRoot=""
OemDriverDirs=RAID

Assuming the contents of the floppy that comes with the RAID device are in a
folder called RAID, I should not have to press F6 and I would not have to
create a custom component and add it to my image, correct?

Another option would be to try the following:
You can determine the Intel files that you need and place them into the
proper directories on the WinPE CDROM. I created a XPe driver for the Intel
RAID controller that was on the board I used. There was only a few files
needed. You can add this to your build for your own custom XPe image. If
you really need to create a custom WinPE CDROM that try using a tool like
MagicISO and save the existing WinPE ISO image. Add the few RAID files that
you need to the proper directory and then burn the new ISO. Make sure to
make the CDROM bootable (check box). This should work although I have not
tested making a new WinPE CDROM myself yet. I'm trying to attach the SLD
that I have to this. I hope it comes through.
