WinPE and PXE

Walter Beach

I have a question in regards to WinPE over PXE.

I have read here something interesting about having to put the driver in
two places.

I think I missed putting the driver on the pxe server... I'm not sure
how to do this.

Please forgive me I'm rather new.

I used the instructions to create a winpe image and integrate my network
drivers into it. Then I read the instructions stating how I'm to copy
the OS cd to the RIS server and then overwrite them with the files from
my WinPE image I was creating.

Then I modified the file (Don't remember its name) that allowed it to
appear on the pxe boot menu.

I started my computer and booted to the network drive. The menu loaded
no problem, but when I selected my image it says that no nic driver
found not able to continue. Coincidentally I get this error on all the
images I tried.

I have an Intel D915GMH board

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Walter

Hi Walter

Yes you need to put the driver in two diffrent places

I assume that you got you images in D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images.
In that case you will need to put the driver file *.sys in both
D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\"imagename"\i386 and in
d:\\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\"imagename"\I386\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

for ris you used to need a special verison of the intel inf wich should go
into D:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\"imagename"\i386. In the latest
driver release they seems to have fixed that so that you can just copy the
standard inf instead.
