Winows XP acivation

Just purchased new Acer laptop with Windows XP from Comet online. I thought
it will be nagging me to activate but it does not. Does it mean it must have
been activated by the maker or supplier? How would I find out for certain?

How to tell if XP is activated

Start | Run | Type or paste the following and then click OK

oobe/msoobe /a

If activated, you'll see this message:

Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.

Hi
The supplier has more than likely already activated the product, to check if
the product is activated
click start, run and type C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A
You should see a message "Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.

Yes, it worked as you said and the laptop is already activated.

Factory-installed OEM operating systems are typically either
pre-activated at the factory or are BIOS-locked and do not require
activation so long as they're installed on the computer with which
they're sold.

The OS will let you know, with frequent (several times a day)
reminders, if you do need to activate. To check for yourself, Start >
All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Activate Windows.
Alternatively, Start > Run > "C:\Windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A."
It will probably tell you that WinXP has already been activated.

Just downloaded and installed the latest 6 Windows updates from windows
update site. After a reboot message appeared saying my system had
significant changes requiring activation and registration. No new hardware
of any sort installed during the past 2 years. Why the activation
request?.Activation and registration successful over the internet.
