I have chased all over the place at Microsoft site for the file winhlp32.exe
but am unable to find it. They tell you all about it and don't give you a
place to download the file. Are these people trying to play games or what??
This file is supposed to allow me to view help .hlp files in Vista. I feel
like I am trying to maneuver a maze. Does anyone know where I can actually
download this file for real???

TIA

I went to www.microsoft.com and typed in winhelp32.exe in the search box a
the top of the page, it took me to a page
(http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?form=MSHOME&mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US&q=winhelp32.exe)
where I selected the first entry - Download details: WinHlp32.exe for
Windows Vista and this brought up the download page
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...d9-d3f5-4365-8070-334cd175d4bb&DisplayLang=en)
and I pressed continue to verify I have a valid copy of windows and that
took me to the actual download page
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...JotuRj8ziX/0sUW9susD9Kg0yNRQ5+YnPJ3+XS2Sp1w==)
where down the page I select the version I want to download
(Windows6.0-KB917607-x64.msu or Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu). Don't know why
this does not work for you.

Actually, it did work for me and I thank you and Rick. I was looking for
the file winhlp32.exe which of course I couldn't find and I did not
recognize the extension .msu as being an executable file.
I have the file now and apparently Vista recognizes the .msu. I appreciate
your help. I've sent it to my network sharing folder where I will execute
it tomorrow on my laptop. Gee, never thought I'd have this much trouble
finding a measly little file like this. Again, thank you Tyro and also
Rick.
