Vista and WinHlp32.exe

Mario Beutler

Hello,

Vista doesn't support .hlp files, but you can download a fix here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607 .
Does anybody know how to check if this fix is installed on the current
computer?
Perhaps the size of C:\Windows\WinHlp32.exe is changed? (The file size
of WinHlp32.exe in a not-fixed Vista is less than 10KB).

If you have Vista and installed the Winhelp fix: How large is your C:
\Windows\WinHlp32.exe ?

Thank you,
Mario

On my Vista installation WinHlp32.exe is 296,960 bytes.

Yep, same here.

Hi,

If it does not exist then you must create it. Edit/new/key. Since support
for the .hlp format was removed, those entries won't exist unless the
supplemental support files are installed.
