Help Downloading WinHlp32.exe

V

Vince

I have a question about versions.

I am trying to download the WinHlp32.exe file for a friend, the problem is I
am trying to get it from an XP machine not a Vista Machine.

Once my machine gets validated as Genuine I am then taken to the page to
download. However since it can not determine what I want it does not give me
the standard button but rather gives me a link to the following two files.

Windows6.0-KB917607-x64.msu
Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu

If I download the above files can I transfer them to a Vista machine and
install them or must I wait until I have access to a Vista machine to get
the correct file.

If I can use these to install the WinHlp32.exe what will I need to do to
install the file correctly? Please note I have yet to touch a Vista machine.

Hi,

The versions are the same for XP and Vista, you merely need to download the
appropriate one (x86 for 32 bit systems, x64 for a 64 bit one) and place it
on a thumb drive or CD for later use in the Vista system. You may also want
this link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607) for reference as
installing it on a Vista system has some side effects.
