WinFax Pro problem.

D

Derrick Fawsitt

I have been unable to persuade WinFax Pro to attach a word document to
an outgoing fax, either starting from the Word document by choosing
printer, then picking out the WinFax printer or clicking on the button
to draw down an attachment to go with a cover page. I have tried to
re-install WinFax Pro in order to try to fix the problem having first
removed it in "add remove" via the Control Panel. However, when I tried
to re-install it, it said the old version was still there. I cannot see
any more steps I can take to remove the programme in order to re-install
it. I am told I will have to re-install Windows to fix the problem and
even if I was prepared to do that how can I be sure it will not occur
again. My PC technician has already tried to remove WinFax Pro via the
registry and that did not work.
I think it is appalling that when you pay for a piece of software you
cannot get a solution from the manufacturers as appears to be the case
again. I have had to go back to Fax via XP despite paying dearly for my
WinFax Pro.
Can anyone help please.

Thank you for your good intentions and help but this was the response I
posted on the website you recommended.

This is a complicated procedure to correct a fault in your software for
which I have paid dearly in good money. I am completely dis-satisfied
with your procedure to correct my problem and also, it has been already
tried by my PC technician who is a qualified expert and he did not
succeed. I never have trouble with any other programme in un-installing
or re-installing and I am in the desperate situation that I cannot
un-install WinFAx Pro and yet cannot re-install it because there is
supposed to be a version still on my system. I was referred to this
support site only to see that the only phone support you offer costs
money and your website support only offers a totally complicated
procedure that could not be carried out by an ordinary non IT citizen. I
do have some knowledge of IT and have yet to see a programme so badly
structured that it may need a re-install of Windows to have WinFax Pro
working again, I would now expect to get a refund of the money I paid
for your system. My PC man even went into the Registry to try to fix it
and failed. He now says a complete re-install of XP may be the only way
to fix it. I would prefer to use XP Fax and in fact are doing so,
however, I have paid for Symantec's Fax system and feel I should now get
a refund.

If you are having problems with Symantec software you should contact
Symantec. This group is dedicated to issues with XP itself, not issues with
applications installed thereunder.

You have to take the support Symantec offers - incidentally what version is
this? I know that no version, other than the latest, works properly under
XP.

I have to apologise if that is the case but I would have to query that
as surely its going to be difficult to deal with all XP problems if you
have to rule out how its affected by other programmes or applications.
However, I most certainly defer to your wisdom in the matter and
apologise again.

Its version 10.02 and its interesting to hear if this version does not
work with XP as my very own PC supplier sold it to me with my PC.

Regards and thanks,
