WindowsUpdate for Windows 2000 isn't working and it makes no sense ... part 2

Forgot to mention there is not and never has been:

%Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2

which for me is:

C:\WINNT\System32\Catroot2

which doesn't exist. Don't know what's supposed to be in it or why,
but it was never needed before.

Any help would be appreciated.
