****ing morons on Yahoo! Answers are answering this question by telling me what %WinDir% means... un yeah if you're not intelligent enoguh to figure thatout you probablay wouldn't be using REVO Uninstaller... (if you don't know what that is, you can guess by it's title... a complete unistall searcher/tracer... also has a temp/junk files clear which is what this options section is for)

Please tell me what the following Windows folder are for...?

They are listed as default exclusions in REVO Uninstaller.

system32/usmt
system32/dtclog
%CommonProgramFiles% - Obvious what folder this is, but what is it for? Programs are stored in C:/Program Files, this folder doesn't make any sense.
%windir%/security - I disable all Windows Security/firewall/etc... if something here were deleted would it re-enable that?
/system32/catroot2
/chaos32
%windir%/twain_32

Thanks.

Yeah but they're faster, lol. And they do have intelligent people on there... just not everyone.

Plus you don't have to go searching for a damn forum... now... if I had a BSoD and registry errors.. I wouldn't be posting there :O.

Besides... I have gotten similar answers on forums too. Like, "My graphics are funny because..."

Reply: Do you have any virus programs installed? What browser are you using?" etc. ... well, since my graphics were in a game not a browser, that's irrelevant... and unless you are suggesting the virus program is corrupting my graphics, that's also irrlelvant... if I have a virus then it doesn't matter if I am running a program or not... actually I commented on that my first couple of posts here... half the people in PC help forums (not this one) seem to be idiots, inckluding the ones who know everything about Windows and such they just post irrelevant things... or yell at you, like, "HOW DARE YOU USE INTERNET EXPLORER!" etc... (not that I do but there are actually.. three... people in the world that use it by choice, lol)

No its no "IRREELEVANT" every bit of info you can provide is useful. I ran a PC for years without AV etc, and a mate said you realyy need to get an AV/internet security. I said why ? I don't look at dodgy/porn sites. HIs answer was, once you are connected to the net as many of us are now days with modern broadband you don't even need to be looking at a site. Look at it this way. If you have Broadband and you have an open connection. ie you are connected 24/7 you don't actually have to be looking at porn sites or dodgy sites to get a virus/trojan etc. Just look at the services Microsoft runs, they all connect to the tinternet. And sad to say there are people with **** hot packet sniffers, wether they be done through WiFi or not, will always be ready to pounce. You are never safe. I could email you a picture now, and if you clicked that picture it would render your computer, and or the network you are attache to useless. Simple as that. So when folks ask "stupid questions" answer them. You might be supprised. :D

Yes, when people ask what you think is a "stupid question" you should answer the question rather then irrelevantly telling them to install firewalls and asking if they are using Internet Explorer or telling them that YOU like to use whatever it is they are trying to uninstall on YOUR computer and just because it isn't a virus, you shouldn't uninstall it or some crap. If I am looking to uninstall "Print Spooler", then i CLEARLY know what it does if I want to uninstall it, OBVIOUSLY I either do not plan on ever getting a printer or I know how to INstall it if I need to in the future OR I don't mind reformatting later on the unlikely chance I get one in order to keep my computer clean now. The correct answer is NOT to say, "Don't uninstall that, your printer won't work!" Nor is it to ask what brand of computer you have. Nothing you wrote in your post is "useful" unless you are talking to someone who is computer illiterate". OF COURSE morons might open an e-mail attachment without looking at porn sites (most of which don't contain viruses by the way, at least not ones that people actually use, since these sites are so well-known now that there is no reason to Google some virus-filled ones unless you don't like the particular porn they have at all 15 or so famous sites), so your firend said to uyou, *I PERSONALLY* prefer to use a virus scanner... your firend told you you can get a virus that's hidden in a jpeg... um... all of the internet knows that. So I'm assuming you were computer-illiterate at the time if you aren't now. telling me what the %WinDir% means int his case is NOT RELEVANT, now if I was posting on a forum someone could say, "Well I have absolutley no idea whatsoever what the answer to your question isbut I do know that %WinDir% means C:/WINDOWS [etc.]", well it might be useful if the person doesn't know that even though it's completley off-topic and irrelevant and a really weird thing to say in reponse, but, on Yahoo! answers you are ONLY supposed to post ANSWERS... also, if you DON"T know what %s mean then you wouldn't be using REVO Uninstaller as you would think Windows uninstaller did it's job properly.

System32/usmt + user migration tool
System32/dtclog = Smile
%CommonProgramFiles% = Common files are enviroment vairiable files, but they are files common to program files ( i know not muchj of an answer ) Leave them alone
%windir%/security - = No
/system/catroot2 = Smile
/chaos32 = Malware, run Malwarebytes
%windir%/twain_32 = has to do with whatever scanner you are using on your system

Generally speaking... the smartest person in this thread, is the one who originally asked for help!

They say only 10% of the brains function is known.
Apparently, the function of the remaining 90% is to keep you from discovering it's function.

This thread proves:
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact Earths
"higher intelligence!"

Credit has to go to Evan for "kind of" answering the question.
Try it without all the drama next time.! What you take for granted, others are still learning!

(just my opinion)
....so, don't take it tooo personally!
