WindowsUpdate fails with Error 0x80072EE7

OS: Windows 2000 Server, SP4 Slipstreamed

I've searched the WindowsUpdate troubleshooting page for this error, as well
as support.microsoft.com and google.com and I come up empty.

For the last couple of days, I have been trying to download 3 updates from
the Critical Updates, and it fails each and every time saying the updates
were not installed. I look at the Windows Update.log file and it shows
error 0x80072EE7. Does anyone have any ideas why it's doing this?

I've manually downloaded IE6 SP1 and manually installed various patches, but
3 remain that I cannot download manually.......

BTW, both of my other WinXP workstations are doing this.......

I've tried pinging download.windowsupdate.com and it says unable to resolve
host....

This sounds like the same type of problem I am having.

Weird thing is that I have dsl and my brother has cable. I hooked my WinXP
machine up to his cable connection (we're both using routers) and I updated
my WinXP and Win98 installations with no problems. Went home, formatted my
drive, loaded Win2000/98/XP and I couldn't update anything. The updates
would always fail.

I'm still searching for an answer. If I find one, I'll let you know.

Yes. I started getting this just last weekend. Five different
machines, all running different windows versions (ME, XP Pro, 2000, XP
Home, doesn't seem to matter). NO answers yet. Tried flushing DNS,
didn;t work.

I suggest everyone call their ISP....

I connected my 56k Courier modem and dialed into NetZero (use this for
backup purposes) and Amazingly enough, I was able to contact the download
site. So... ISP's must be blocking the site... or have a major configuration
problem.

I was able to ping download.windowsupdate.com on netzero, but not when I go
back to my cable.

If it weren't for me being so tired at the moment, I would Maybe
later...
