Windows UPDATE hangs on update download

XP Pro-SP1...this problem just started a few weeks ago. I have always been
able to update with no problem. Now it shows the available updates, I select
install, the "Windows Update - Web Page Dialog" box opens and in it it says
"preparing to download..." and hangs. Here is the excerpt from the windows
update log file:

Sorry...found the link to MS update problems page and this problem was
listed...just needed to reregister 3 or 4 components.
