i installed anew hard drive and ddr in my computer. i started loading the xp
home edition and stoped because it was the wrong disk. i loaded the upgrade
disk and stopped. i put in the xp home edition and nothing happens. the
computer opens to the bios page and the keyboard and cd rom do not operate.

Assuming by ddr you mean you installed a RAM upgrade, that would be the
obvious suspect. Wrong type, invalid combination, or defective module.

Because you didn't explain what you meant by "installed a new ... ddr,"
we can only guess.

If what you meant is that you *added* some RAM to your computer, then
you should remove the *new* RAM and see if things work.

If what you meant is that you *replaced* the old RAM with new RAM, then
you should take out the new RAM and reinstall the old and see if things
work.

If you meant something else, please explain.

It will help if you identify the make and model of your computer (or of
your motherboard if your computer is not a name brand) and the make and
model of the "new ddr."

If your computer doesn't require RAM in pairs, you should try each
individually. I doubt there's a problem with the old one in itself.

If you stated the computer model, brand speed and size of the RAM we could
help you more effectively.
