mourning

when i click start> double click, my computer> double
click local disk (c:) , i get the search results (emty)
box instead of the local disk (C:), like i have been
getting.

also , when i click windows explorer from program menu
i get my documents.

i know i have done something wrong, but could you fine
folks tell me what?

i have : windows XP
pent. 4
1024 memory

Hi Larry,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 /i shell32

If that doesn't correct the issue (and it should) use this automated edit:

Search or CMD Opens When Double Clicking a Folder or Drive (Line 18)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the VBS File: Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you
may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double-click the vbs file.
You will be prompted when the script is done.

mourning.

This morning when the Sun come up [I know, the Earth rotates
and the Sun comes into view]

Your computer problem seems strange but I suspect a virus
has rewritten parts of your registry, suggest a scan of the
system and perhaps run sfc /scannow to restore the corrupted
files.

thanks for your reply, i done what you said typed in
run sfc /scannow. well when i did i got: windows to run
properly must be copied to the DLL cache. insert your
windows xp professional service pack 1 cd now.

i do not have a windows xp professional service pack 1,
i have a windows xp home edition.

had to shut down computer to get rid of the window.

are there anything else i cound try?

i found line 18 (add google as primary search)

do i download line 18 to desktop , then double click it
then thats it?
