Windows XP worm

I suspect I have the worm on my other computer. The
internet explorer has now failed. How can I download the
patch and the extract the worm, if I am not able to hook
up to the internet with that computer?

McAfee AVERT Stinger
to a floppy and then run it
on the infected computer.

That should remove the worm.

If you're talking about a patch that came via e-mail from *Microsoft* - then
it's not a patch and you shouldn't install it. It's a virus called Swen.
Remember that MS never sends patches through e-mail.
