I downloaded the patch for Windows XP, and, well, it
doesn't work. I have XP build 2526, and the blaster worm
patch only works on build 2600. What can I do?

The patch is for all versions of WinXP but it'll do you no good if you were
already infected with the worm before installing it.

To detect this virus, search for msblast.exe in the WINDOWS SYSTEM32
directory or download the latest anti-virus software signature from your
anti-virus vendor and scan your machine.

Jeremy,

I believe you are still using a pre-release version of XP. I don't believe
you can patch this version. If this is so you will need to purchase a
released version of XP.

Greetings --

Purchase and install a legitimate copy of WinXP. The license for
the pre-release versions expired on 25 Oct 2001, when the final
version of WinXP was released to the public.
