Windows XP won't boot

I can't boot my Windows XP Pro workstation. Ctrl-alt-del doesn't work,
start=>shutdown=>restart doesn't work, nor does log off.

The last time I saw this, I did a cold boot, the OS got corrupt and a
reimage was required.

I'm reluctant to cold boot again. Is there any hidden command (eg dos based
perhaps ) to reboot this that I'm not aware of?

Thank you

*** without much information I'd say blame the hard drive, I'd say it was
failing

Maybe boot from a XP install disk and run checkdisk (link)

I'd put that drive in another computer as a slave device and pull all the
stuff you want off of it then test the disk with www.hdtune.com
if it is good, then reinstall if not buy a new drive from www.newegg.com
