XP Pro boot

My Windows XP Pro system stop during boot with the error NTLDR missing press
CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot. I have formatted drive and re-installed XP only to
receive the same error. The system will only boot if the XP disk is in the
drive. How can I repair this? and how could this have happened?

It sounds like you've got the boot order set incorrectly in the BIOS.
Change it to something like 1) optical drive; 2) hard drive; 3)
removable drives.

Any other suggestions?
Got a floppy in the drive? The error means that your computer can't find
any operating system boot files where you have told it to look. So
either you have the boot order set incorrectly or your hard drive is
faulty.

Since you say Windows will boot if the XP cd is in the drive, change the
boot order to the hard drive first. If the operating system will not
boot with the hard drive first, then there is a problem with your
Windows installation. Do a Repair Install.
