Windows XP won't boot

Hello All,

When booting my Win XP Home PC this morning, I was hitting F8 for startup
menu, and I received the following message: "Windows can not boot because
<Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe" is corrupted or missing, please
reinstall this file.
This is all great and clear, however, I don't know where to begin to install
said file.
Anyone have any Idea?
