I have a customer who has a Dell Precision 380, Windows XP Professional. He
is logged into a domain and behind the scenes our network administrators are
pushing out the Windows Updates from our server. This happens at least one a
month or when there is a need to have a critical update installed
immediately.
This is the problem....Everytime this update is pushed out to this person's
pc and he reboots, he gets the error NTLDR is missing, press any key and
restart. It's happened three times. Each time I've had to run the recovery
console and copy the files, NTLDR AND NTDECT.COM back to the hard drive, but
this last time, I decided to see if the files were definitely there before I
copied them, so I set the hard drive up as a slave and sure enough, they were
gone!
Have you heard of the NTLDR and NTDECT.COM being completely removed after a
windows update install and what causes it?
Please Help!!!!
