Should I worry?

Hello everyone

I reformatted my system drive at the beginning of december from my OEM
CD, XP Home French SP2, and did all the Windows updates.

I installed only the programs I needed and wanted (mostly music creation
tools). I also have AVG Internet Security 7.5 installed and it reports to
be up to date.

About two weeks ago I copied (tried to copy) a data CD with Nero Express,
at the end of the image file creation, the PC frooze and the only option
was to press the RESET button. At reboot, a message appeared that said
"NTLDR is missing", so I did a repair install and Windows came back. The
next day, when I turned on the PC, same thing "NTLDR is missing", I did a
repair install, Windows came back. NTLDR disappeared 2 more times in the
next 3 days but those times I booted the XP CD into the "DOS" mode
(recovery console I think) and copied the file NTLDR from my other
computer running the same version of XP and it worked (XP on this one
comes from an upgrade CD but the file was the same size). NTLDR didn't
disappear since then.

After that, Windows updates wouldn't install but after some research,
this issue has been solved.

My question is: what can cause NTLDR ot disappear?

Do some hardware tests, starting with the hard drive and the RAM.

As above, but backup all of your data first then run HDtune and see if the
"Health" tab reports many "reallocated sectors", then run chkdsk /r and see
if any bad sectors come up.

Might want to check your internal cables etc also.
