Guys, seriously, I need help with this.
Windows XP SP1.
Few days ago computer was running extremely slow. I
defragmented the drive. It became even slower. Now after
few reboots, it won't start windows. It hangs on the black
Windows start up screen for 20-30 mins. Won't boot in safe
mode either. Should I reinstall windows just upgrading the
components? I'm not sure it will fix the problem.
Please help.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

I may believe that your hard drive is beginning to fail. I would changing
first, before re-installing XP.

It could also be your motherboard and power supply. Is the computer a brand
name or a home built one? Some cheap computer cases come with very weak
power supplies that wind up ruining motherboards. Make sure your hardware is
quality. www.newegg.com
has good deals on things.
