windows xp will login and then logoff by itself

I put on my PC(Windows XP), it boots and then asks for the password(which is
for admin user), I enter the password, it then starts the window and as soon
the icons come on the screen, it shuts down and starts logging off, it loggs
off by itself and then logon screen comes back. It happens again and again.
Can someone help me?

Try at pc start-up,tap the F8 key,select safe-mode,enter as administrator,
chk the user account,delete the password,retry start up in problem account,or
create new account,see how it starts,if all is ok,delete old account,it
might be
corrupted..
