Windows XP: cannot login again without restarting my laptop

Hi,

Hope some one can help.

I recently reformatted my laptop and installed Windows XP again on
it.
Now a peculiar problem is happening.
I am able to login once.

But after that, if I logout or lock screen, I am unable to login again
with the same password.

If I restart, then I can login again.

Is there some way I can fix this problem?

With regards,
