Windows XP update error!

I go to the Windwos update page and am advised that there
are CRITICAL UPDATES, I select and begin the download /
install procedure then receive a message box
titled "Software Installation".

The body of the box states:
"The software you are installing has not passed WIndows
Logo testing to verifiy its compatability with Windows XP."

WHY WOULD YOUR (MICROSOFT) UPDATES NOT PASS THE LOGO
TESTING?
