WINDOWS XP unstable after SP2

After I installed the SP2 for XP my computer became
unstable. It shuts down in a middle of writing a word
doc, during an internet connection. I am having a
miserable time. Disabled the stupid new firewall and all
the hidden crap XP brings.
Any advice to stop this miserable user experience??
Thanks

We don't know enough about your computer to help you.

1. Is it an OEM (HP, Sony, Toshiba, etc.) machine? If so, did you check
for OEM patches that might need to be applied before SP2?

2. Was/is the computer 100% spyware and virus-free before you applied
SP2?

3. Was there any virtual drive software (Alcohol, VirtualCD, etc.)
installed before installing SP2?

4. What are the computer specs? Was the computer stable before SP2? The
problems you describe could also be caused by bad RAM and/or
overheating, spyware, viruses, etc.

Without more information from you, I can only direct you to some

I have the similar situation when I install SP2.
(The entire system suddenly freezed when do something)
Finally, I found the problem was caused by BlackICE.
After I install the lastest patch of BlackICE.
Everything was OK now.

So, maybe one of your application have problem with SP2
