Windows XP to Windows 2000 server

I have two machines 1)windows 2000 server and 2) windows
xp pro. I have been trying to connect my xp machine to
the domain for quite a while now, and at one point
reinstalled windows and did the domain setup initially,
and it worked for a while at least. Came back a month or
so later tried to send something to the network printer
and i can't connect to the domain again. XP's firewall is
off. Any suggestions?
