Windows XP TaskBar Freeze/Lockup

hi this is a COMMON problem with windows xp and i heard this in lots of
newgroups but they seem they dont have an answer...

im running windows xp and my task bar freezes and i have to press
CTRL+ALT+DEL to unfreeze it again.

i just formatted my comp 30 mins ago and i updated windows xp from the
website and now at this very moment im download service pack 2.

before i formatted my comp i had this problem when i installed SP2

please help....

Hi,

There are two main causes for freezing:

1) Malware is installed on the system.

2) There is a hardware problem, either misconfiguration or a failing/failed
component.

The first is resolved by cleaning the junk from the system using commonly
available tools, and then using safe surfing habits to avoid reinfection.
The second is resolved by replacing the troublesome component, or by
altering the configuration (especially those who are or have overclocked the
system).
