Windows XP Stopped Downloading from Canon Powershot A80

Disconnected my PC during building work and now that it's reconnected, I
can't download pics from my Canon Powershot A80 any more for no apparent
reason. When I connect by USB, the PC ' ding-dongs' to acknowledge the
camera, the Autoplay box that lists the applications I can choose from does
appear but is empty, the camera appears as a drive in Explorer but if I try
to pick up pictures from it, it states that the device is already in use or
that it cannot connect to the camera. Device Manager shows the camera as
working fine, I've tested the USB ports with other hardware and they're fine,
the camera works perfectly, I've tried everything else suggested on other
threads, I've not upgraded Realplayer, no other applications (Zoombrowser,
Picture-It, etc.) will recognise or download the pictures either - HELP!!!!!

Not quite sure about how to solve your problem.
This is a new problem posted on this newsgroup, as far as I know.
Seems like the USB connection is OK.
What I would try is right click on the listed camera drive and then click on
Properties. Then click on the Autoplay tab. Select pictures and select the
button "prompt me.."
See if this would bring back the options in the Autoplay windows.
If this does not work, post a response about what happened and we can try
again.
