Windows XP SP3 can't see wireless networks - PLEASE HELP!!!

Is SP3 listed in add/remove programs in control panel (make sure the Update
box is checked)? Is that where you tried to uninstall it? Did you have any
3rd-party firewalls running when you first installed SP3?

SP3 was not listed in Add/Remove programs so I had to uninstall it from the
hidden folder C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$.
Norton Firewall was running during the initial install.

Try shutting down Norton and reinstalling SP3. I had a similar problem with
Zone Alarm while installing SP3. Luckily, I had an image I restored to that
was dated right before I installed SP3. After shutting down ZA and then
installing SP3, I had no problems.

My laptop is from HP and I have installed their latest Wireless Manager also
but it still doesn't work.

You might want to try to get the ProSet manager from Intel's web site.

I don't see any option to shut down Norton. It's always in the system tray.
Can I just disable the firewall and then install sp3?

They never are! Pig-Bear knows nothing about computers and it is rumored in
the various newsgroups that he got MVP by false pretence and he lied about
his experience, qualifications and job function. He is 78 and somebody
needs to help him with his Medicare.

Ignore everything he writes here.

PS: You're running an /ancient/ & buggy version of WLMail (Microsoft Windows
Live Mail 12.0.1606).

Try right-clicking on it and see if there is an option to close or shutdown.
If you can disable it, try that. You'll have to look for an option to not
let it start with Windows until after SP3 is installed.
