windows XP sp2 installation problem

I was doing a clean new installation of win xp. When it came to formatting
the partition it only gave me a choice of ntsf. It said to press escape if I
was using a different file system. I hit escape, but was not given the
opportunity of useing a 32 bit file system. Any ideas why no choice? I am
running an amd 64 x2 4800 on an Asus a8nsli deluxe motherboard with 1 gig of
corsair ram.

You want to format NTFS.
