Windows XP SP1 or SP2

I'm getting conflicting information on what version of Win. XP I'm using.
When I go to winver, it says I'm using SP1, then when I go to a site telling
me what version I'm using it is telling me I'm using SP2. I'm trying to
download, IE7, but it is saying I need to check my proxy settings? I was
having problems getting on Internet Explorer, so I was told to uninstall it,
put my disk in and reinstall, but it is not there.
I'm so frustrated on what to do.
Can anyone help? Please!!!!

Why not simply reinstall SP2 to be sure?
