Windows XP SP2

I recently restored my PC to its delivery state due to viruses. I am now
downloading all the XP updates again, as windows is telling me my version is
not secure, but when I download service pack 2, I can't get it to run... so
I'm stuck with SP1. Could anyone tell me how to remedy this? Thx.
