Windows XP SP1 (Express) not installing successfully (I think)

F

Frank

I am attempting to upgrade my Win XP Home Edition with
the latest XP Service Pack 1 from Microsoft's website.
Every time I run this upgrade (alone) with nothing else
running it stops in the middle of the install process and
the machine reboots. I get no error msgs and no failure
or cancel notice. I've viewed my Windows Update History
and it lists 3 attempts to install SP1 and each entry
shows a status of "In Progress", as oppose to some of the
older updates I've applied which shows
status "successful". I am assuming by this that the SP1
did not install totally or successfully due to some
reason.
My system and other programs on it are all working well,
so far.

Of course there is the slight possibility that SP1 has
worked, but I doubt it as I would think it should
indicate it with "successful" install.

Here is a copy of what is in the svcpack.log : (if it
helps) :
