Hi,

Windows XP Home Ed.! I turn on the computer normally, after i click my username to enter to the system, after a few minutes the system shutsdown. There is no error message or any symtopms of that worm everyone else seems to have. I don't get the message about shutting down in 60 seconds, nor any other messages, the system just shutsdown. I realize that if I leave the computer on the screen where I can select my username it does not shutdown, it only happens after I log on to the system. I tried typing "shutdown -a" (without the quotes) trying to follow some of the instructions on this site, I also tried going to My Computer, Services, and stopping the computer to shutdown by changing the settings of the RPC. Nothing works. I don't have time to log on to the internet to download any patch or fixes, althought at this point since I don't know the problem, I don't know the solution.

Please help me!

Thanks,

Jana

when I said I don't have time to go to the internet, I meant that the system does not allow me to go to the internet because it shuts down way too fast..unless I prevent the system from shutting down, I don't see how I will be able to get the patch.
I even saved it on a memory stick from the website, and tried applying it but, the system shuts down in the middle of the install.

Hey all you guru's out there - can she use the restore to
at least get her computer up long enough to download the
patches she needs?
