Windows XP shuts down at login

I have a user that over half the time his computer restarts when he presses
Crtl-Alt-Del to log into his computer. His computer is running Windows XP
Pro SP2. It restarts immediately after pressing Crtl-Alt-Del without him
being able to enter his password. The computer is part of a Windows 2000 and
2003 active directory domain. Has anyone seen this before because I cannot
find anything about this issue?

The logs look normal and there are no warnings or errors.

Thanks

Hi, It may sounds silly but have you check the power supply …
I Had about the same problem, when I tested the power supply I found a
problem.
Replaced it and the pc starts perfect.

I think it is because when you login the HD starts spinning en using a lot
of power.
When the supply isn’t working fine the pc reboots
You can easily test the power supply white this tool from antec

i do not think that is the issue. the computer does not just loss power, it
actually does a shutdown process as if i choose shutdown from the start menu.

Thanks

No, you’re right, when he takes the time to do the shutdown process it will
not be a power issue.

Sorry I can’t help you out then
