Windows XP Shutdown Problem

I have read thru most of the posts and have been to more websites for
shutdown troubleshooting than I want to remember and have not solved this
problem. I had installed Etrust Security Suite 2007 and noticed there seemed
to be a software conflict so I uninstalled this Suite and then noticed the
computer would not shutdown. It gets to the message 'Windows is shutting
down' and hangs forever. I have tried everything I know to correct this even
using System Restore twice. I am at wit's end with this and before I rebuild
from scratch I thought I'd post here just in case someone else has solved
this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I can be directly
contacted at rick_bari (at) hotmail.com. Thanks again in advance..

I reinstalled the Etrust antivirus software and the shutdown problem
disappeared. I still do not know why but am satisfied that the shutdown is
now normal!
