Windows XP setup via boot disks & error message

I need some serious help. I am trying to install Windows
XP Home Edition on my computer and since i don't know how
to get the computer to boot from the cd-rom, i am using
the boot disks. I went out today and bought new 3 &1/4
floppies as well. Here's the situation: I get to the
final disk out of the 6 disks and i get the following
error message:

The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is
corrupted or missing:

Value 0 on the line in section (SourceDiskFiles)
with key"SP1.cab."

Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3

Is the problem in the Windows XP setup disks or is it
something more sinister? I have downloaded the setup disk
program from both the Microsoft website as well as
another 3rd party website, both with the same final end
result. All replies are greatly appreciated & thanked for
in advance. FYI, i am trying to install Windows XP Home
Edition on a IBM Intellistation PIII 733mHz with Rambus
memory and a 160gb hard drive. Please, i really need help
here. Thanks again for any help or advice rendered.

Actually, i just bought new IBM Formatted disks that day
since at Walmart since it happened the day before, so i
figured that if i bought new disks, the problem may just
be a bad disk or two...i guess not, lol
And once again, thank you for any and all replies.

Hi Patti,

I have the same issue - however I am absolutely sure that
I have downloaded the correct version for my install CD,
that is the XP Pro SP1 download.!

Any other ideas

Thanx

Hi Bhups,

The file to d/load for creating the XP Pro SP1 setup disks is available from
here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=83F5
3BE9-28FA-40E8-8EC2-631504EF5E26
If your install CD expressly states "including SP1" (or wording to that
effect) then these are the setup disks that you must use.

If you (or someone) has created a non-bootable slipstreamed install CD to
include SP1 with XP Pro, and that is what you are using for the install,
then replace the TXTSETUP.SIF file (on the first diskette) with the file
from the updated i386 folder on the CD. Since it's an expandable file, the F
in the file extension will be replaced with an underscore (eg., copy
E:\i386\txtsetup.si_ a:\txtsetup.si_ )
