Windows XP Serious Error

Susan

Last night I received the blue screen with
a "Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" error message. I
manually restarted. This morning when it booted up, the
screen was the blank and I manually restarted. I got
the "The system has recovered from a serious error" and I
sent the logs to Microsoft.

I have removed spyware, adware, malware, etc. from this
computer with the assistance of the invaluable hijackthis
volunteers.

I am thinking that maybe Windows XP Home should be
repaired? Can anyone suggest what they would do and what
KN article that I might follow? Please offer advice.

Thanks for information.

That one is almost always a result of a driver problem or actual failure
in hardware (possibly RAM). As it appears that the system has come up
again, it may be only a one off. But if it happens again, try to
identify the driver concerned - there should be a reference at the
bottom of the Blue Screen to something.sys Look for that file in
widnows\system32\drivers, right click it and look at Properties -
Version, which should indicate what it is for. Then get an updated
version of that driver.

Thanks! Computer seemed to do fine.
