windows xp replacement disc

I own a laptop that was purchased with windows xp home edition already loaded.
Although I have the windows authenticity sticker on the laptop, I have lost
the xp disc(s) that came with the laptop. What are my options and costs in
getting a replacement disc. Is there another way to deal with this problem?

Many times the files are on another partition of the HD. There's a
Restore option when you restart the computer to press F10, as an
example, to run the repair. Unless you're sure you had CD's or a DVD
with XP on it, this is probably what happened. You can look up the OEM
site and probably get the details, and maybe order/buy a CD.

Joe I am not sure what you mean by this. All that has happened is that I
lost the XP discs that came with my laptop and need to get a replacement from
somewhere.

If it is a proprietary machine such as HP, Compaq, IBM etc. etc. you
should contact the manufacturer regarding getting a replacement CD.

What your options are and how much they may cost depends on the manufacturer
of your computer. With OEM versions of Windows (which is what you have) they
are in charge. Contact them to find out what you can do.
