Hello,

My laptop has crashed reasons unknown. The last thing I
remeber was downloading an update fix from microsoft and
using the machine rebooting for a long time. After reboot
the machine started giving a stack dump (blue screen). I
have product recovery cds, however the restore is a
destructive recovery and I do not want to loose my data.

Hence I downloaded the recovery disks from MS. Even after
trying some things it did not work. So refering to KB
Article 307545 I replaced
the "system", "software", "sam", "security" and "default"
files under the "system32\config" folder with files
from "windows\repair" folder.

After exiting from the recovery console it gave me a
passsword mismatch message. I tried to log on to the
Recovery Console and now it does not let me in as the
password does not match.

Before copying the files the password was null.

Any help appreciated.

Regards,
--Sanjay
