Windows XP Professional Hangs Unexpectedly

T

Todd

I have a Sony VAIO laptop, model PCG-FXA59 with Windows
XP Professional. Originally, it came bundled with XP
Home. I upgraded to XP Professional a few months ago and
noticed that sometimes Windows just stops for no apparent
reason. The only thing I can do is a hard reboot. I'm
wondering if this was caused by the upgrade (which wasn't
easy), or if this might by a Sony issue.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Hi Todd,
I have the Sony PCG-FX140 which came with ME. Upgraded
to xp home then Pro.
I have not had a problem like yours. However, i did uninstall
most of Sony's software and added memory.
If your still at 128mg's of ram i suggest you add more. Made
a big improvement for me and memory is reasonable.
Also do you know how to see what you have running in the background
and eliminate what you don't need? Some of Sony's software for
instance.
Hope this helps,
Rich
