my computer just kicked me out. it asked for a windows verification and then
would not open the screen for me to apply. it also wont do a system restore
or many other apps. please help ---im truly a novice so break down is
important on the lowest level.

What kind of "windows verification"? Have you activated your copy of
Windows XP? You have thirty days from the time of installation to
activate it otherwise you will be required to do to continue using
Windows XP.

Sounds like WPA (Windows Product Activation) utility wants you to
activate your copy of Windows XP. You have to enter the product key and
send it to MS. If enter a bogus key or have activated your copy too many
times, that won't work and you have to call the phone number on the
dialog window and request a long serial number that you enter in the
text box. This will activate your copy of Windows XP.

hey this is old man here. the windows verification is the 30 day one and i
dont know where it came from but . that screen would not let me do anything
all i have is 2 flags on each sides and cannot right or left click on them.
and now im locked out of every thing else.
