When I try to back up and I get to where it asks to type in the name of the
backup I get the following message. "F:\backup.bkf" (F is the letter of my
cd burner) Please ensure ait is a valid path, and that you have suppicient
access".
I don't know what to do next. Can someone please help me.?

nt backup does not support writing to a cd burner device. Write the save set
to disk and then burn the file onto the cd. This is obvously less than
optimal. For handsfree backups you might consider getting a second hard
drive and backup to that drive from your current "drive 0" drive.

Hi John,

WinXP's backup utility does not support writing to CDR/CDRW. You need to
choose a different backup medium or a different backup program.

You can't save the backup set to the same drive you are backing up;
the backup program will balk at that since it's trying to backup a
file set that is constantly changing. You need to back up to a second
partition on the primary drive, or better yet to a second physical
hard drive.

That's true if the backup is of the entire drive (and the source and target
are the same drive)...but it works fine for partials.
