I recently got WinXP Pro to install on my laptop. My
laptop had Win2000 Pro. I installed XP and it then had
dual boot between XP pro and 2000 pro. Well I then went
in to Win2000 pro and did and XP upgrade this time.

Now I have dual boots for two (2) XP Pros on the laptop.
I would like to get rid of the first one that was
installed because there is no applications and it is just
taking up memory now. I have already looked in the
Add/Remove programs and it is not there to install. Could
someone direct me in the right direction to get this taken
care of.

You need to boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter key for password,at th
curser type:DiskPar
In DiskPart delete the unwanted partition with the 2000 or xp os on it
when thru type:EXIT Then type:CHKDSK C: /R (if all is well,and C: has th
proper os on it),when its thru, type:EXIT

They both seem to be on the same partition. When I boot
the pc I have option of 2 XP Profesional to choose from,
one does not have any apps or anything. The other has all
the things I had before on Win2000 Pro. It was just
upgraded.

Is there anything else I can do to get rid off this other
that formatting the hard drive?

Thanks,
